Early Life
Karan is son of Mr. Babbu Khanna, the most sought after action director and grandson of late Mr. Ravi Khanna, winner of Zee lifetime achievement award for excellence in cinema in 2001. Mr. Ravi Khanna was the top action diector in his time & had a commanding position in Bollywood. He played a major role in the making of blockbusters like zanjeer,sharabi ,amarakbarAnthony,parvarish,disco dancer and many more. Karan learnt daring stunts from his experienced family. His love for dance and passion for stunts encouraged his dad to train him professionally. Karan joined the dance guru Terence Lewis for professional training in contemporary dance form, jazz, salsa and hippop. His dad stunt director babbu khanna, trained him in all kinds of stunts like fancy bike stunts ,groundfights,handfilmifights,etc…
Career
Karan started his career as an actor at the age of 17. Later, while doing his college, he joined Terence Lewis’s Dance Academy. Dazzled by his performance and impressed with his keen interest in dancing, Terence Lewis offered Karan a scholarship of 3 years diploma in his dance academy.
During his journey with Terence (2006-2009), Karan did more than 150 shows - Commercial and Corporate - with Nokia, ICICI, HSBC, Barclays, Citigroup, Toyota, Chevrolet, etc. He performed with superstars like ShahidKapoor, Priyanka Chopra, KoynaMitra, Nelly Furtado, etc. Being a great artist, he got an opportunity to work with Ali Zafar in a Music Video for ZeeCine Awards (Pakistan). He, also performed with other Pakistani stars like AtifAslam, Veena Malik, etc.
Karan, under the supervision of Terence,choreographed dance for a TV show “Rock’n’Roll Family’ on Zee TV.
Looking at his talent in choreographing and his artistic way of making anyone dance, he got a chance to work as an instructor in Terence Lewis Dance Academy for about a year and a half.
After 3 years of great achievements in learning and working with Terence, Karan worked with Longinus Fernandes, the great personality who choreographed the song “Jay Ho” in Slum Dog Millionaire. While working with Longinus Fernandes, Karan performed in a video for World Cup, He did several shows and also instructed 1000 students in Delhi to put up a show.
In 2010-2011, He conducted many workshops for Corporates, and also choreographed many dance shows for Asian Paints, Nomura, DSP Black, Rock India Pvt Ltd, Swiss Air, Sife, etc. Karan, an outstanding trained dancer, an excellent choreographer, did not want to limit him to dance alone. He, being very adventurous, also had the passion for stunts (inherited from his family). He wanted to be an all-rounder and so he, also continued working with his father, as an assistant stunt coordinator for Bollywood movies like....
Karan’s greed for learning different dance forms did not end here, he had the desire for more. He went to USA to master the Contemporary dance style from Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance, which later became his forte. During his stay in USA, he also, performed for the Indian Fair Exhibition. After his short trip in USA, he gave a dynamic performance in Muscat Festival. During this time, he was selected as the top 20 finalist in the hit TV show “Just Dance” on StarPlus.
Following through with several unnoticed performances, Karan finally proved himself with his remarkable performances in the JUST DANCE show on StarPlus in August 2011. Karan received rave reviews as an excellent dance artist in all dance forms. He won the runner-up Award. He was described as a 'Hero', an all-rounder STAR and as one of the show's most attractive men, a label for which he received substantial media attention and a lot of female fans.
